Course Overview

This course is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in the skills and knowledge required of an event manager. The Diploma focusses on all aspects of event management via a relevant and specific event curriculum providing you with a flexible skill set that is relevant to many different industry roles and event types.

With a particular focus on the practical aspects of learning you will spend time out of the classroom observing events, meeting industry and seeing venues. Our Industry Engagement Program will connect you directly to the industry people that matter. Work experience, internships, volunteering and paid work experiences will give you the practical experience and industry connections needed for a successful start to your event career.

Online Plus Study Option

Our Online Plus study option gives you great flexibility without sacrificing the practical components of the course. Your online work will include weekly meetups with your lecturers and webinars with industry experts, all accessed through our Cloud Campus. You will also attend two immersive workshops which will include site visits, team activities and industry networking opportunities. You will be connected to industry via our Industry Engagement Program and have the option to attend on campus lectures and one-on-one sessions.

On Campus Study Option

This course is an immersive learning experience taught by education and event industry specialists. You will learn a combination of theory and practice in a simulated event office environment where industry standards are applied. Classwork is balanced with time in the field learning from observation and working on real events where you will have countless opportunities to work as a short term volunteer or intern. Many paid roles are also on offer while you study via our Industry Engagement Program.

The Diploma will provide you with a comprehensive and flexible skillset that will allow you to find employment in various roles within different sectors of the industry.

Upon completion of the Event Manager course, graduates will be able to work in such diverse fields as: Music, Arts and Community Festivals / Sporting events / Venues / Meetings and Conferences / Exhibitions / Government / Not-for-profit

Entry Requirements

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Completion of Year 12 e.g. HSC, VCE or equivalent
  • Completion of an acceptable tertiary qualification
  • Literacy and numeracy tests may be required
  • Admissions Interview

IT Requirements

  • Access to a computer and reliable internet connection
  • Latest version of Firefox and Abode Flash player
  • Webcam and microphone
  • Each student will receive Microsoft Office 2016 (this is included in your course fees)
